These exquisite, collectable Kutch dolls are hand made by Indian tribal women who live in the remote, drought-prone desert region of Kutch in Gujarat, India. Each doll is an exact replica of the very woman who makes it.
The dolls are dressed in the traditional clothing of a long embroidered blouse, long skirt, veil, and heavy silver jewellery. Besides generating much-needed income using Fair Trade principles, the embroidery and beadwork provides a social and creative outlet for Kutch women as they gather together in the village to produce their work.
The dolls slightly vary in size, with the tribe’s women modelling the dolls using measurements from their own hands.
These dolls have a little loop on the top of their heads so they can also be hung up as a wall decoration. Note: This is a unique piece, and the colour /pattern you receive may differ from that pictured on site.
